The One Who Walks Away From Omelas is a short fictional story that was made by Ursula K. Le Guin back in October 1973. I first know about this short story from one of BTS’ Spring Day music video. In that music video, they put up a big ‘Omelas’ sign in one scene. Then there are ARMYs (BTS fans) who shared that BTS use ‘The One Who Walk Away From Omelas’ book for their inspiration.

Hi! You already knew that I have so many awesome learning activities at my school. So, in my blog I will make weekly reflection that will be updated every Saturday or Sunday. In this series of learning reflection, I will write everything exciting or interesting that happen during my school activities in a week. The reason I make this kind of post is being able to reflect of what I have done in one week and to help me in achieving one of Cikal 5 Stars Competency, that is Self-Regulated Learner.
So, this was actually the first week after I finished the orientation program. This week we started the actual lessons and schedule. We got introduced about some topics we gonna learn in this first term (July-October). We (year 7 students) have 12 core and required subjects of learning, and 2 elective subjects that each student can choose differently.

“A polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colourful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots can’t stay alone; like the communicative life of people, two or three polka-dots become movement… Polka-dots are a way to infinity.”
July 18th, the MYP students did an art project as one of the activity in orientation program. In this art project, we need to make two artworks using polka-dots, inspired by the well-known artist Yayoi Kusama. For you that don’t know yet, Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist who is focus on making sculpture and installation. But one thing that really unique is, she always makes her artwork using polka-dots.

Becoming a middle school student is beyond my imagination. I have so many interesting, fun, and awesome activities everyday. Today, I will share one of those activities that I did in day 4 of Cikal’s orientation week (July 16th 2018). The activity is Community Walk.
In Community Walk, all MYP (Middle Year Program) students walk around the school area and make an observation. We have to observe the surroundings as careful and detail as we can. We went to 2 small villages near the school and also a health center not far from there. If we found something bad from our observations, we need to discuss and find a way to solve the problem.
