My First Camp in Sekolah Cikal (1): The Leadership Training

Two days ago, I just got back from my camp in Kaliandra Eco Resort Prigen, and I already promise you that I will make a post about it. Before I start, I want to say that this story will be seperated into two posts. Weekly Reflection of Year 7 Learning #7

Two weeks ago, I wrote three summative assessments that I’ve got, so today I will write the summative assessments of other lessons. The lessons that I want to write in this post is English, Math, and the continuation of Individual and Societies.

On English lesson, since our topic is Haiku, the summative assessment was still related to that. The first step was to make a haiku and analyse it by ourselves. Then Miss Enn gave us one of our friend haiku for us to analyse it, and we needed to presentate it in front of the class.

Weekly Reflection of Year 7 Learning #5

Hi! Before I started this post, I just want to say sorry for not uploading any post last week. It’s because there’s not much activity happened last week because of Ied Al Adha, and also I didn’t have time to write it. So in this post, I will combine last week and this week reflection.

The most interesting topic in this two weeks is stress management in PSE (Personal and Social Education) lesson. The reason I think that the topic was interesting is because as long as I know, not every school give their students this kind of topic in the learning process, even though this topic is really important for a teenager. Because being a teenager means that we will experience a lot of stuff that sometime make us stressed out in some point. So learning stress management will be useful to prevent or reduce stress.

Weekly Reflection of Year 7 Learning #4

In this weekly reflection, I will tell you about the fun competitions that my school held from August 13th until 18th to celebrate Asian Games 2018 and Indonesia Independence Day. We called it The Mini Asian Games.

We compete based on our house and not based on our class. So, the meaning of ‘house’ in Cikal is similar to ‘clan’ that each clan consist of some students from each grade and also teachers and staffs. It’s the same with Harry Potter’s school- Hogwarts, if you know the story about that. So when we become Sekolah Cikal member, we will be divided into 4 houses: Phoenix, Centicore, Unicorn, or Dragon. Usually when there are special event or activity, all school member will be grouped according to their house.

Weekly Reflection of Year 7 Learning #3

It’s a week left before Indonesia Independence Day! Because of that, in this post I will focus on telling you what my school prepared for the Independence Day and also one more interesting activity.

This week, the teachers informed that Year 6 and Year 7 students were chosen to be the flag ceremony officer, so everyone in that years will be involved no matter what.

Weekly Reflection of Year 7 Learning #2

The main thing that I want to write from my experience in the second week as Cikal MYP student is my first meeting of the clubs that I already join in! I join two clubs, taekwondo and vocal. The meeting of the clubs are on Thursday for taekwondo and every Friday for vocal.

For Taekwondo, one of the reason I join this club is because my parents want me to have enough skill to protect myself. And after thinking for a few weeks, I finally agreed. Because that way I can also do physical exercise more often and I also can try a new thing from it.

Weekly Reflection of Year 7 Learning #1

Hi! You already knew that I have so many awesome learning activities at my school. So, in my blog I will make weekly reflection that will be updated every Saturday or Sunday. In this series of learning reflection, I will write everything exciting or interesting that happen during my school activities in a week. The reason I make this kind of post is being able to reflect of what I have done in one week and to help me in achieving one of Cikal 5 Stars Competency, that is Self-Regulated Learner.

So, this was actually the first week after I finished the orientation program. This week we started the actual lessons and schedule. We got introduced about some topics we gonna learn in this first term (July-October). We (year 7 students) have 12 core and required subjects of learning, and 2 elective subjects that each student can choose differently.

Pengalaman Trial Class di Sekolah Cikal Surabaya

Haiii!!!

Sudah semester baru ya sekarang. Aku naik kelas 6. Tahun depan aku sudah SMP. Nah, hari ini aku akan menuliskan pengalamanku tadi pagi sampai sore mengikuti Trial Class di Sekolah Cikal Surabaya. Alasanku ikut program ini karena tahun depan aku bermaksud mendaftar SMP di Cikal, dan sebelumnya aku mau tahu dulu bagaimana rasanya bersekolah di sana.

Dari pagi, aku sudah bangun dari jam 4 lewat, lalu melakukan rutinitasku seperti biasa: Shalat Subuh, sarapan, lalu mandi. Aku berangkat jam 6 pagi ke Sekolah Cikal yang ada di Surabaya Barat. Memerlukan waktu sekitar 45 menit untuk ke sana. Tidak selama yang aku duga sebelumnya ternyata. Apalagi jalanan tadi bisa dibilang cukup lancar.

Tapi seperti biasa, aku merasa deg-degan saat mau berangkat. Biasa, kan mau masuk ke lingkungan yang aku belum pernah tahu. Aku tidak tahu apakah teman-teman di sana akan ramah atau tidak, kelasnya akan asik atau tidak, gurunya seperti apa, dan pikiran-pikiran yang lainnya. Meskipun memang deg-deganku tidak separah dulu saat hari pertama aku ikut kelas Junior Journalist di Sekolah Cikal Cilandak, sebab kalau sekarang aku sudah punya semacam gambaran bagaimana rasanya nanti.

Tiga Hari di Kelas Junior Journalist

Hola! Seperti yang kalian tahu jika kalian melihat instagramku (nama instagramku itu : @ayundadamai), aku mengikuti Kelas Junior Journalist di Holiday Program-nya Sekolah Cikal Cilandak selama 3 hari saat liburan kemarin.

Di Holiday Program itu sebenarnya ada kelas-kelas lain selain Junior Journalist. Ada kelas Dance Hip-Hop, Science, dan Doctor. Tapi tentu saja aku memilih kelas Junior Journalist, karena aku ingin belajar tentang jurnalistik lebih banyak. Tapi seandainya ada kelas musik, aku akan lebih memilih kelas musik siih.. Hihihi..

Malam sebelum hari pertama Kelas Junior Journalist, aku merasa deg-degan. Soalnya aku takut tidak punya teman di sana. Namun besoknya, ternyata justru mereka yang datang dan mengajak kenalan ke aku lebih dulu. Benar-benar di luar dugaanku, mereka teman-teman yang ramah.

Selama belajar di sana, kegiatan prakteknya lebih banyak daripada teori. Jadi aku bisa lebih paham tanpa perlu bosan mendengarkan ceramah panjang dari pembinanya (seperti di pelatihan jurnalistik yang dulu pernah kuikuti, hehehe…)

Di hari pertama program, kami belajar tentang apa itu jurnalistik dan wawancara. Sebenarnya aku sudah agak tahu tentang yang ini. But still, the activity was so fun anyway. So, nggak apa-apalah, aku mengulang belajar lagi dengan cara belajar yang berbeda.

Di hari kedua kami mempelajari tentang kamera. Setelah penjelasan sedikit tentang angle, jenis kamera, dll, kami praktek mengoperasikan kamera video yang besaaaaar banget. Biasanya kamera semacam itu dibuat untuk syuting film atau acara di televisi. Di akhir hari kedua ini, kami dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok untuk praktek broadcasting esok harinya. Kami diminta membuat acara yang membahas tentang hal-hal yang terjadi di area sekolah Cikal. Karena seluruh murid itu 15 anak, maka otomatis  kelompokku terdiri dari 5 anak.

Nah, hari terakhir, itu yang paling seru dari hari-hari sebelumnya karena kami berpraktik broadcasting. Di semua kelompok, dua anak jadi host/reporter, dua anak jadi cameraman dan satu anak menjadi program director/ketua. Dan aku menjadi host! Yayyy…..!

Acara yang kubuat bersama kelompok lebih seperti talkshow. Namanya ‘Ada Apa dengan Talkshow’, hihihi.. Thanks to Bibie (the program director) for naming this talkshow. Isinya, aku dan satu host lagi yang bernama Sasya mengundang gardener sekolah Cikal (I forget his name) dan mewawancarainya dalam talkshow itu. Kami menanyakan tentang kenapa mau jadi gardener, siapa yang mengajari, tips and trick untuk merawat tanaman, dll.

It was stressful but fun at the same time. Rasanya aku itu nervous tapi aku tetep pengen jadi host. Namun akhirnya, Alhamdulillah, berhasiiil! Walaupun ada kesalahan sedikit di bagian akhir, tapi kami dapat menyelesaikannya dengan baik. Dan rasanya itu legaaa banget. Nggak bisa dijelaskan selega apa aku saat itu.

Di Cikal, selain belajar jurnalistik aku juga dapat banyak teman baru dan dua diantaranya menjadi teman dekat selama belajar. Aku juga tanpa sadar menjadi lebih aktif melatih bahasa inggrisku, as you can see. Soalnya di sana teman-temanku memang lebih banyak bicara dengan Bahasa Inggris. Jadi, aku pengen banget ikut program ini lagi kalau tahun depan juga diadakan.
